About
Meet Paul — founder of Reid Design Limited
With over 25 years of experience in the industry my career began straight from school with a modern apprenticeship in Civil Engineering, gaining an ONC and HNC in Civil Engineering. Working at Sellafield, including a secondment to BNFL, gave me a strong technical grounding. But I soon realised I wanted to design spaces that people would see, use and enjoy every day.
I moved into architectural design and retrained at Bolton University, gaining an HNC in Building Studies. I learned my trade at a small practice in Sale, working primarily on home extensions and individual new-build houses. That experience sparked a lasting enthusiasm for residential design.
My career then took me to larger practices in Manchester and Altrincham, working on church renovations, schools, industrial buildings and housing developments. As a Senior Technologist and later an Associate, I headed a technical design team and led multimillion-pound projects, primarily in care and extra-care housing, alongside taller residential buildings and larger housing schemes.
In 2022, I founded Reid Design Limited to bring that experience to projects with a more personal connection.
Working across different sectors has broadened my understanding of buildings, but housing has always been my passion. I love meeting people, understanding what they want from their home and helping them turn their ideas into spaces that work for them. Seeing the difference a completed project makes to someone’s daily life is the most rewarding part of my job.
Based in Timperley, I now work with homeowners across Greater Manchester on extensions, loft conversions and new homes.
If you’re thinking about extending, converting or redesigning your home, I’d love to hear your ideas. Get in touch for a free initial feasibility consultation, and we can explore what’s possible.
